CHRISTMAS GIFT CERTIFICATES NOW AVAILABLE

It's that time of year again and I hope you're looking forward to a wonderful Christmas season with friends and family! If you're still looking for a wonderful gift for that special person, can I suggest one of my gift certificates?

Treat someone special to a Thai cooking class at my rural home in North Saanich. As none of our classes are prerequisites to any other, your certificate may be used for any of our classes. Click here to view our full schedule of classes for the spring season.

THAI DESSERT CLASS PREMIERS ON OCTOBER 25

This Sunday, October 25, I introduce my very first Thai dessert class. I'm really proud of this class, but I owe a great deal of thanks for its success to many friends who helped me during the testing and development phase. The friends included: Linda Kieran, Marlene Whelan, Uta Bryce, Glenn Smith, Gerry Smith and Colin and Filu Jackson.

The picture above is of my Thai Pumpkin Custard, an especially delicious recipe that fits right in with the Halloween holiday.

I'm hoping lots of people will want to come!

A THAI TRADITIONAL IMAGE

I love Thai traditional art! I think the women in this picture are just charming. The picture is very delicate.

ANOTHER TRADITIONAL IMAGE

Here is another traditional Thai image. Isn't he a wonderful, magical elephant? I wish real elephants could be a red like that sometimes!

But their life in Thailand can be sad.

The New York Times recently published a photo essay called "Forgotten Elephants" that I found quite heartbreaking. Click here to find it.

I love Thai traditional art.

This is a test.

SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE

I've had some odd postings on this blog during the past few days. That's because my husband, Ry, just got it up and running recently and he's had to test it.

We THINK it's working okay now but we hope you will let us know if it isn't!

The blog is a big step for us. We hope we can keep it interesting for our readers.

AN INTRODUCTION TO KALLAYANEE GLOVER

I just realized that I had forgotten to introduce myself, which was not very polite. So here's a bit of an introduction:

I was born in the Northeast of Thailand, in a small village without electricity or running water. Villagers lived much as they always had in this beautiful country — and their cooking reflected a long tradition of recipes handed down from generation to generation.

I learned from my mother and still cook many of the same dishes. Also, I regularly travel back to Thailand, where I learn new dishes from some of the best chefs in the country. You'll benefit from these trips when you learn how to make little-known Thai dishes that your friends and family will love!

Free Cooking Support

Once you've taken a class, you will also benefit from free cooking support whenever you are trying to cook your new recipes on your own. Just get in touch with me, either by email or telephone: 250-656-1227.
